Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum Announces New Location for Future Home
The Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum has announced the future home of its highly anticipated relocation project, marking a major milestone in an initiative that has been in development since 2022.
The new museum will be located at the corner of Forsythe Avenue and Broadmoor Boulevard, neighboring Monroe Surgical Hospital. This location positions the museum in a highly accessible and growing area of the community, reinforcing its commitment to serving families across Northeast Louisiana. While earlier plans considered Forsythe Park, the Museum’s leadership ultimately identified this as a more strategic path forward, allowing for responsible use of donor funds and a more efficient timeline to opening.
The announcement was made during the Museum’s Donor Lift Off Breakfast, held at the site of the future home. The event brought together key supporters as a gesture of appreciation and to provide an update on the project’s progress, vision, and next steps. Attendees received insight into renovation plans for the space, along with a projected timeline for completion.
“This moment represents both progress and responsibility,” said Melissa Saye, Executive Director of the NELA Children’s Museum, “Our supporters have entrusted us with an investment in the future of this region, and we are committed to honoring that by making thoughtful, strategic decisions that maximize impact.” By choosing to renovate an existing structure rather than pursue new construction, the Museum is able to steward donor contributions wisely while advancing toward a tentative opening by the end of 2027.
More than a relocation, this project reinforces the Museum’s role as a cornerstone for early learning and development. The Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum is committed to helping shape future leaders, educators, and engaged citizens by expanding opportunities for interactive learning, community engagement, and educational programming throughout the region.
